I'm baaaack!
Did you miss me? Hopefully you followed me over to The Nile and got your dose of wellreadkitty anyway :-)
The upshot of my guest blogging stint over there is that I have the blog bug bad. After a wee break this week, I'm ready and raring to go again.
So without further ado, here's some of the literary links that have captured my attention in the past few days...

- The big news on the NZ book scene this week was Penguin's decision not to honour their word and reprint plagiariser Witi Ihimaera's novel "The Trowenna Sea." What really grates is their refusal to comment on just why that is. The ever delightful Bookiemonster wrote a great ranty pants post which sums the situation up nicely.
- Bookies on the web completely fell in love with this story about Sir Terry Pratchett; after being knighted last year, he created his own sword - by hand. Amazing author and swordsmith, who woulda thunk it?
- From the what were they thinking? files comes The 20 Worst Children's Book Covers. Baffling and amusing in equal measure!
- "A rose by any other name is still a rose" - or so goes the saying. Perhaps someone should point that out to blockbuster novelist Danielle Steel who claims her books don't fit into the romance genre. Hmmmm???
- How's this for commitment to your reading; a US bus driver was caught on camera reading from his Kindle while driving down the highway with a load of passengers on board. I just wanna know what he was reading that was so good!
- He spent 5 years in a American prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, now Australian David Hicks is to release a book covering his training with al-Qaeda to his incarceration.
- And lastly, fans will be sad to hear True Blood creator Charlaine Harris has been forced to cancel her NZ book tour due after the passing of her mother. Her Australian dates have also been cancelled.
