John Cleese Memoir to pay the bills

I'm not one to hold grudges, but for John Cleese I make an exception.

Call me petty but five years on I have still not forgiven him for those infamous, scathing comments he made about my beloved hometown Palmerston North.

So it's fair to say I am not exactly waiting with baited breath for the memoir Mr Cleese is now writing.

The 71 year old has been forced to put pen to paper to help fund his 12.2 million pound divorce settlement from third wife Alyce Faye Eichelbergerw which left her richer than the comedian/actor. The pair did not sign a prenuptual agreement before they wed in December 1992. (Cleese is now dating a woman 31 years his junior).

The book, to be entitled 'The Maintenance Memoirs', will be written by the Monty Python funnyman and an official biographer, with them each taking it in turns to write a page. The book is thought to be able to command an advance of around £2 million from potential publishers.

I wonder if his comments on Palmy, the public furore it created and the cities' revenge will get a mention in the book?

The city took revenge??

I always imagine that his real personality is a lot like Mr Fawlty.

Yup, we named a compost hill at the local dump Mt Cleese. So fitting. :P

I don't think he's a very nice man. But I have some sympathy for someone whose wife ends up richer than they are. He earned the money, she didn't! I'll probably read it - I've enjoyed his other books.
