Tonight I did something I have never done before: I edited my TBR pile.
It needed to be done. The TBR pile has grown steadily since my last count up and would be in excess of 130 titles now.
Okay, so if I were truthful, probably closer to 140.
Ops.
It was actually quite a sacrifice. I love all my books, almost like children, and it feels pretty illicit to turf some out because my interest in them has waned. I honestly do buy all my books with the intention of reading them (not just to clutter up the house as my beloved suggests).
And it's weird how having so many books is such a joy and yet sometimes, a source of anxiety too - usually when it comes to book choosing time. I have so many books, which one do I go to next? Being a reviewer, I have to give priority to the review books, meaning my own selections get scooted to one side. And when new books do come in, I automatically gravitate towards their pretty shiny newness first, meaning some titles have languished on the TBR pile for over a year!
So how many books did cull?
Um.......five.....
*looks shamefaced but I just could not bring myself to demote any more.*
And of course, while looking up the links for the books I got tempted to read them all over again. Bad Kelly! Bad!

OMG, you brave girl! Your TBR list looks a bit like my CD collection. At the rate I've been reading this year, that's a lifetime of books left, but in a previous life that would have lasted me a couple of years max. So, how long will it be before you start adding to it again? And how about Bookcrossing for the ones you've culled?

I had the same problem when I was a reviewer, and then the same again when I was a book buyer. Now I have no excuse, but luckily my addiction to buying vintage clothing cuts into my book money and restricts me a little. Not sure how healthy that situation is, either! :P
I would love to hear what you think of Geraldine O'Neill's books. Have you read any of them?
